Banks to feel more pain: analysts

Brian Johnson, the managing director and banking analyst at JP Morgan Australia, said bank earnings look extremely vulnerable to an economic slowdown.

Mr Johnson believes that Australia's banks are failing to envisage the possibility of a loan-loss cycle where asset prices [such as housing] fall, and banks struggle to recover loans from defaulters and forced sales.

 

호주은행들이 대출금환수에 실패할것 같단다...특히, (부동산가격이 하락하면서)

 

자산가격이 떨어지고,,,론못갚는 애들땜에 몸부림치고 있단다.

 

This is the scenario being played out in the US housing market, and Mr Johnson sees no reason why a similar scenario cannot happen here.

 

이 시나리오가 미쿡부동산시장에서 일어난건데,,,

"Domestic housing losses in Australia have been negligible forever going forward," he said.

"The rhetoric from all of the banks would suggest that no matter what you do, you can't have a problem with housing lending, and we've issued previous reports where we speak about mortgage stress, we don't necessarily share that view and it is certainly an area of vulnerability [for the banks].

분명히 부동산대출에 취약성이 있다고 보고있다..ㅋㅋㅋㅋ

 

"The banks are still giving out a lot of easy credit through zero balance transfer credit cards, which is probably still disguising a lot of the apparent mortgage stress that's out there.
